Every licensed pleasure craft in Saskatchewan has to carry its Pleasure Craft Licence number on the hull, and the rule is specific: block characters at least 7.5 cm (3 inches) high, on both sides of the bow, above the waterline, in a colour that contrasts with the hull. Saskatchewan-issued licences start with the SK prefix — something like SK1234567 — and that full string is what goes on the boat. You need a Pleasure Craft Licence if your boat has a motor of 10 hp (7.5 kW) or more, and Transport Canada sets a $250 fine for operating without a valid one. Four letter heights are priced online: 3 inches at $39 a pair clears the legal minimum and suits most runabouts and aluminum fishing boats; 3.5 inches at $45 and 4 inches at $52 read further off the water; 6 inches at $65 suits pontoons and cruisers where a 3-inch character looks lost on the hull. Nine colours are available at no upcharge: black, white, red, blue, gold, silver, orange, green, and yellow. Black on a bare aluminum or light hull and white on a dark hull cover most boats, and the contrast requirement is a legal one, not a style preference — pick a colour that stands off your hull. Type your licence number straight into the configurator and you'll see it previewed in the colour and height you picked before you pay. Each set ships on premask transfer tape, so applying it is a three-step job: wipe the hull clean, position the tape and press it down, then peel the tape away and leave the letters behind. Aluminum, fibreglass, and painted hulls all take it fine as long as the surface is clean and dry. Add your boat's name for $18 — most people put the number on the bow and the name on the transom or across the side. Full-colour graphics, logos, and fleet sets for outfitters and fishing lodges are quoted directly. Artwork is straightforward — we set the characters from the number you type, so there's nothing for you to design.
